3 out of 5 stars Strong Output With Reliable Signal Quality   July 10, 2008
This is a basic product that suits the needs it fulfills; an HD signal via VGA (D-sub 15-pin connector) with audio outputs in either Stereo RCA-type connectors or Optical high-fidelity sound.

The cable I received is from Intec; based on the vagueness of the product listing, I presume that the brand may vary from one order to the next.

The cable doesn't appear to take physical strain well, but taking care of cable strain is a part of maintaining a quality entertainment system anyway. I noticed that the final product features a mesh 'sleeve' around the cables. This may be an advantage for de-tangling or otherwise isolating this cable among others in a complex entertainment system, but otherwise seems like an aesthetic touch rather than a functional one.

For my application, I only use the two RCA plugs for sound, which is flawless so much as I can tell. I haven't tried out the optical connector (no fiber-ready audio system yet) but I can see the laser diode emitting light when the system turns on.

As far as cables go, there's not much in the way of features. It connects my 360 to a 19" Sony Trinitron CRT and audio goes into a basic home-theater system. The home-theater correctly detects the Dolby Surround signals, putting sound to the rear speakers when appropriate. Since the 360 itself is in charge of the picture resolution and frequency, there's not much to say for the cable. It works.

In my opinion, this is a quality 'clone' of the OEM product and is a worthy, low-cost alternative.

3 out of 5 stars Low Price Low Quality   June 21, 2008
This item does exhibit ghosting, although it isn't terrible for the best picture spending the few extra dollars for the OEM cable is worth it. The item feels cheap as if made of thin plastic and the video cable is small and the shielding feels thin, this could be the cause of the ghosting.

The ghosting can be seen in things like text in Halo 3, or any high contrast situation, IE: white text on dark background, will display this problem. Other than that it seems ok.

5 out of 5 stars The Perfect Alternative..   May 11, 2008
...to the more expensive Microsoft Xbox 360 AV Cable. With this cable, you can use a standard VGA computer monitor with your 360, and the video quality (after changing the video settings in the Xbox Dashboard) is phenominal. Be warned though, if your monitor only has a cable ending in a male 15 pin conector, you will need a simple female/female gender changer (VGA Gender Changer HD15, F/F).

1 out of 5 stars Horrible Experience   February 8, 2008
I bought these cables thinking between these cables and a new 21.6" Samsung Monitor I had managed to save my self hundreds of dollars and have a nice HD quality gaming set up. Monitor came I love it, cables came a few days later, i was so excited to see the picture. My heart sank and i was furious to see the horrible picture that resulted. I had the same ghosting, poor color, as everyone else stated. I did some research and blamed the problem on the fact my monitor's native resolution of 1680x1050 is not supported by the xbox360 therefor the problem is not the cable, its the picture being distorted as it trys to put it on the monitor. I put up with the bad picture since i had nothing else to play on and hoped for an update from M$ to support my resolution. Then these piece of @$@% cables REALLY messed up, replacing half the colors it showed with yellowish and green faded colors, then after restarting my 360 got the red lights of death. I plugged in the old cables and the 360 worked fine. Moral of the story I'm out $20, and i dont have the packaging for these cables.

1 out of 5 stars Very Poor Product   January 27, 2008
Whoever is posting the few reviews here which claim this is a quality product and that they are very satisfied must simply be blind. I bought this cable only because I know that VGA is the only way to get 1080p output unless you have a newer Xbox with an HDMI port. I originally was using the component cables that came with the Xbox and the picture looked wonderful, but I thought it might be even better. I was aghast when I hooked this VGA cable up.
To say it displays a little ghosting would be a gross understatement. Several other reviewers have described it perfectly. The picture is horrible above 640x480 and there is a ghost image of everything about an inch to the right. On my 47" LCD, the image is disgraceful. I will take their good advice and exchange this for the official Microsoft version.
