The Perfect Headset for Console Gaming October 15, 2008 I bought this headset almost explicitly for use with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the Xbox 360. Needless to say, the item has completely exceeded my expectations. It provides clear, useful sound for tracking down that sneaky enemy. There is little problem distinguishing between footsteps in front of or behind me. With a little tweaking upon initially receiving it (maybe 15 minutes total) I was in full working order. The game volume had to be turned down very far, but the headset volume (on the amplifier or on the headset itself) could be turned up to compensate. A great product- I'm very satisfied!
Very poor sound quality! No bass AT ALL and the vibration DOES NOT make up for it. October 2, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Let me start by saying that I never write reviews, but I just feel that I have to tell you about this product. I received the product, opened it immediately and hooked it up to my ps3. I popped Metal Gear Solid 4, started playing and noticed instantly that there was no bass whatsoever. I read the manual and it says to adjust the Vib, so I go ahead and do it. The headphones start vibrating to mimic a subwoofer and while it improves the bass a little it still had almost NO bass. And please, don't believe the people that say "people that are giving bad reviews didn't read the manual". I read the manual, searched the internet and even called Tritton. This is ridiculous, the headphones are 98 dollars, but anyone here that has purchased a sony in-ear headphones for 30 bucks knows how ridiculous these sound. You will be better off buying the SU-DH1 from JVC and plugging your stereo headphones to it! Skip this product and your ears should thank you.
Works Great with my Xbox 360 -- After some tweaking September 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As many reviews have mentioned, setting up the microphone for the Xbox 360 was the tricky part. I had to turn my in-game sounds all the way down to the last notch and then I was able to adjust the four volume controls on the headset up.
Also, as the instructions mention, you have to go into your personal settings and make sure to set the communications to come out of your speakers or you wont hear anyone.
As to the headset volume settings, I think I generally have the front and rear volumes around 2-3, the base around 4-5 and the center to 6-7 (as the center is what controls how loud other player's communications are).
I have a plasma tv so anything that used IR technology (like Turtle Beach) was a no-go as there was too much interference from what IR that the tv generates. I also have a newborn plus my wife goes to bed earlier than me and I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase.

Directionality is there, but not really a "mini 5.1" September 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased this as a compact, wallet-friendly solution to my problem: I have an X360 console and an LCD monitor but no speakers. I wanted directionality and immersion in that order. This is a reasonably priced option in that you do get the directionality, but not quite 5.1 sound. Front left/right sounds like center. Rear left/right sound proper and center is center. I do like the active rumble that emulates bass. As you go lower and lower in frequency sound is more felt than heard and its that sensation that bassheads are after, so this is a natural and innovative solution. For the purposes of gaming, I like it.
The connectors can be a little on the loose side. I do wish the connectors were a little tighter. The item isn't hefty and the DAC/AMP unit (the smaller box in the photo) is surprisingly lightweight. Not surprising though, seeing as how its just a single PCB in a plastic enclosure.
4 stars. I do not regret my purchase.
