Product Description With state-of-the-art audio quality and a Dolby Interactive Content Decoder, you can experience the superior quality of Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound even during game action. Add a fiber optic digital audio connection, and get access to the best in home audio entertainment. Digital is the preferred high performance audio connection over analog because it has a wider dynamic range, which results in clearer highs and deeper, tighter bass, without the distortion common with analog connections. The Monster LightWave 100 X features a specially tuned fiber and precision polished termination that maximize signal transfer while reducing internal reflections that cause jitter and time distortion. In addition, problems like the hum and buzz caused by electromagnetic and radio frequency interference are eliminated ensuring Dolby Digital decoder receives the most precise data transfer for the most accurate surround sound possible.

Crystal clear October 3, 2008 Great piece of equipment and not too fragile--it has taken some abuse from gaming parties and lots of moving around and still like new.
Only complaint I have is that the plastic caps for the fiber optic connections should be attached to the neck of the cable so you don't have to carry them around separate.
Fiber optic cable February 28, 2008 This was priced very well and works the same. Great product!!

**MUST HAVE MONSTER COMPONENT CABLE TOO** January 8, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I read many reviews and did my research before purchasing this product. Not until I received the package and opened it, I saw a tiny disclaimer smaller than newspaper print on the side of the packaging.
**YOU MUST HAVE THE MONSTER BRAND COMPONENT CABLES FOR THIS OPTICAL DIGITAL CABLE TO WORK**
**THIS PRODUCT WILL NOT WORK WITH YOUR MICROSOFT COMPONENT CABLES**
Now why didn't monster package both the optic digital cable and the monster component cable in one package???!!! Digital sound for around $20.00? I knew it was too good to be true! Two thumbs down!
Nice cable December 22, 2007 I got this to work with my Monster s-video cable for the xbox 360. It works exactly like it should with no problems. I have not compared it to any other cables but I got this and my s-video cable for a decent price and well its monster they have great products IMO :).
Read the review, not just the star rating! December 4, 2007 Monster has a rep for making very expensive cables, but there's usually no contest in quality when compared to the competition. I play my xbox 360 through my computer monitor, and my sound comes through my PC's 5.1 surround sound system. Using the optical cable lets my speakers do their thing and bring me great surround sound to all of my games. I originally bought a non-toslink optic cable that didn't fit correctly into my 360's vga adapter. After tweaking with it (All hail scotch tape!) I got some pretty good sound through it for Guitar Hero 2. When I replaced that one with the monster cable, I could actually tell a difference in audio quality. Joe Schmoe probably won't notice it, and instead will use the cable as a chain for his dog or something. Though if you're an audio nut like I am, you can usually tell pretty easily the quality difference in highs and lows, sharpness to notes and sounds. A must-have cable, albeit a tad pricey. Don't let the 1 star "fun rating" confuse you. The only "fun" just the cable itself would deliver is if you used it as a whip and reenacted scenes from Indiana Jones movies.
