Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
With its 250MHz GPU drawing 125 million polygons/second, a 733MHz Intel Processor and an audio processor that will support 256 stereo voices, 3D audio, and Dolby AC3 encoding, Xbox unleashes the most powerful gaming experiences ever in a mind-blowing fusion of fantasy and reality. S-Video is the preferred high performance connection, because it sends the video signal in separate Chrominance (color) and Luminance (brightness) channels, for a picture that is richer in color, brighter and sharper. It also gets rid of "dot crawl", the annoying, flickering along object edges. Gamelink 300 X uses advanced technologies like nitrogen gas to ensure the best S-Video signal possible.Your Xbox is state-of-the-art when it comes to audio quality. But its sonic performance is only as powerful as the cable used to connect it. GameLink features patented cable technologies that allow you to expand you Xbox's audio as your own sonic needs evolve. GameLink's digital audio output jack, which makes it easy for you to upgrade to Dolby Digital Surround Sound. LightWave 100 X (sold separately), Monster's highest performance fiber optic audio hookup, completes the upgrade to a pure digital audio connection. You've already invested in the most killer video game system around. Why not play with the best picture and sound possible? With GameLink 300 X, you'll get all the power and performance your Xbox was designed to deliver.

5 out of 5 stars S- Video first, games second.   May 4, 2004

THe first thing i do when i buy any console is get a Monster S video cable, then i get the games. The thing with monster is its the best, but it cost alot. When first released cables cost $50, but now its reasonable. I think Monster goes over the board with the development of this thing. Just read the product info. Basically if your TV gots svideo hook up, get these.

1 out of 5 stars Faulty product   January 31, 2004

I bought the 300x cable two days ago. Since then I have been nothing but frustrated -- though my regular AV cable that came with the console still works perfectly, I get NOTHING from the Monster cable -- the ring on the Xbox just blinks green and orange, signifying a bad AV connection. No amount of fiddling has made a difference. On top of this, Monster's customer support was almost nonexistent. Xbox's support was helpful, but they confirmed what I suspected from the process of elimination. This cable is the problem. For the price I paid, you'd think I'd get a product that worked, and barring that, at least some service from the manufacturer! I'll never buy Monster again.

2 out of 5 stars not really worth the money   January 27, 2004

Yes these are Monster cables. Yes Monster Cables are better quality than ordinary cables, but the difference between Svideo and Composite is not something to jump for joy about. The differences between Component and Composite is astronomical, and between Svideo is noticeable. If you get these cables, you won't really notice a significant difference in picture quality, (especially if your RCA cables are gold plated and top of the line). I have a Sony 27in Trinitron Television. Connecting my Xbox directly into the Svideo jack didn't do what I thought it would. I was looking for Computer like clarity, and didn't get it. Neither will you. If you ever purchase an HDTV with component inputs, the difference will be there. Until then, don't waste your money. It might be a good idea to get the Gamelink Optical adapter for Dobly 5.1 sound however. Oh, if you have component inputs on your television then buy the XGL400 not the XGL300.

5 out of 5 stars A Must Have   March 25, 2003

I connected my X-Box to my 19inch LCD computer monitor via a ViewSonic VB50HRTV TV tuner using the Microsoft RCA jacks supplied with the X-Box, and the results were pretty poor.

I figured I had wasted my money on the tuner, but a friend convinced me to try an S-Video cable, and customer reviews here on Amazon.com convinced me to try the one from Monster Cable.

Wow and more wow! What a difference. If you have an S-Video ready TV or TV tuner interface, this Monster Cable is worth the added expense. It makes the image brighter, sharper, and more colorful. It improves the imagery in every game I own.

I know it's hard to fork out big bucks for something as unsexy as a cable, of all things, but this cable is really worth it.

5 out of 5 stars A Vast Improvement   December 2, 2002

When I got my Xbox, i also picked up the Interact Universal S-Video cable, figuring a ten dollar cable is better than Monster's pricier ones. The quality was good, but i was upset to find that I couldnt hook up my Xbox to my surround sound system, because it had no optical output. So, i went back to the store, grabbed the Monsters and the optical adapter, and hooked it all back up. I was astounded. Not only did I have full Dolby Digital, but the picture quality was even better! These cables are a must for anyone looking to get the best out of their Xbox. Nevermind the price, it's like having a whole new system.
