defective routers September 11, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
i have bought 2 of these , 1 the wireless would not work , and the second one, the lan would not work, the customer support is horrible , i own a linksys wireless router ans a belkin and no a problem with any of those ever. these dlink guys are just selling pure junk at a high price , also be aware of false advertising since the same reviews u find in here are the same u find in circuit city and other pages.
dlink extreme gaming router is wonderful August 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Found the router easy to set up with my home network. The wifi security works with either a mac address filter, 'wep' type or both. Very quick install. New firmware installed nicely as well. Router stops ALOT of garbage from ever reaching my network. A check of the log daily shows just how much crap is out there trying to slow down my computer!
Great Router August 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just purchased a new computer that had the Vista 64 bit operating system on it and wanted a router that was going to install with out any issues. I decided on a D-Link router after researching on the Vista website for it's compatiablity and narrowed it down to this one. I have to say it installed pretty easy and fast. I initially followed the installtion CD that came with the router but had problems with the cd finding the router after I plugged it in. Follow the pamphlet instead. Setting up the WPA was a breeze. I have a PS3 connected wireless on the network and that connected too without any issues. Laptop that has XP Professional connected to the network easy too. Very happy with purchase. Don't forget to update the firmware.
Definitely buyin' it August 18, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've done two days of research on this router and after discovering that Dlink just released a new firmware update (v1.12) on 8/7/2008, I'm in. I've been looking for a router that could handle both Xbox 360 and WoW and this looks like the best solution.
Superb! August 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am shocked at all the negative reviews about this product. Either some of you got duds, or you don't know what you're doing.
This is a fabulous router. I recently upgraded from a Linksys WRT310N (which is a good router) to this for the dual-band and range/throughput improvement. It does all of that and more...I have never had better wireless coverage through my house, which is 3,500sq ft. It also streams HD video with ease, as well as having great performance transferring large files wirelessly across my network. I have this paired with a Hawking dish-style high-gain 802.11n adapter and I get 4-5 bars @ 270-300Mbps throughout the house, amazing!
The only thing "negative" I would say about the router is the web-based setup screen. Unless you really know what you're doing, you will probably be overwhelmed at the complexity and depth of all the options on this router. The Linksys equivalent is like a Cliff's Notes version of this. I also think this is a tad overpriced...When you have new routers like the Linksys WRT610N priced at almost $40 less than a router almost a year old, that's a little high.
