Great router for gaming or normal home use October 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The DGL-4500 was easy to set up and get started. Installing the software was a breeze and the widget that you can set up to monitor the router is a useful tool. Controlling the router through the computer can be a bit confusing as there is a number of options and I wish it were easier to change options through the router itself. The screen on the router is gorgeous though not that intuitive and the screen itself does not stay lit so there is no way to know any statistics without getting up and pushing buttons on the router. The router has good range and output. Hooked up to a slingbox, streaming was smooth and had hardly any lag. Gaming is excellent and playing xbox live is a great experience with this router as it has an 'open' NAT. I recommend this very attractive router for gaming or for normal surfing.
excellent router September 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Have been a linksys person. Linksys routers are terrible for gaming and only mediocre in everything else. This Router is great for gaming and great for every other need. Have had no problems. Also, very easy to tweak settings of router with great help. Installation took 5 min.
Great September 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We had a linksys router before and it sucked. It was horrible. I play world of warcraft and in the middle of a fight it would always boot me out. It was HORRIBLE! So My boyfriend and I decided to buy a D-link. This thing is AMAZING. I've been playing for almost 2 days straight and there is absolutely NO LAG. Honestly, if you are going to spend money on a wireless router, wait and save up for this one because it's worth it. Amazon.com has the best price too. It's definitely worth it. Don't just buy a 70 dollar piece of crap like I did.
Terrible support September 19, 2008 If you buy this router, hope that you don't have to use their support. While basic features found on your normal $30 linksys work well, advanced features like logging, schedules, access control have their share of problems. I tried to get D-Link to at least acknowledge those problems, so they could be fixed for the next release of the firmware. That didn't go too smoothly -- most of D-Link support people don't even try to understand the problem (and those who try -- fail, not understanding their own product), won't escalate the issue, etc. I'm on my 4th week of ping pong with them, and its still going nowhere. Should've stayed with Linksys ...
Great Router September 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The reviews have been all over the place on this router but not sure why. I am not an expert on routers or computers by any means but right out of the box the set up was easy and works great. I highly recommend this D-Link product to anyone from an extreme gamer or someone that just wants extended wireless internet access.
As for the rebate, I hope D-Link follows through with me unlike it sounds for others that posted problems with them.
