1 out of 5 stars It's 5.1, but man this thing has flaws   November 28, 2008
What good is 5.1 when you have random buzzing sounds, all kinds of interference from other devices ruin your sound? On top of that the control box is lousy. Sometimes, even though you have adjusted the sound previously, when you first turn them on you get sound at full blast just about blowing your ear drums out. Setting the volume just right is hard too. The cheap plastic on the earphones are weak and these things broke pretty quickly too. I have gone back to the stereo sound of TurtleBeach X1 while I wait for a better surround sound headphone option. I miss the 3D sound, but there has to be a better option that this product. It is awful.

5 out of 5 stars tritton ax360   November 27, 2008
The Tritton ax360 headset is a clear step ahead of the crowd. The sound that comes from these wonderful headphones is far superior to the turtle beach headsets in it's class. The only issue i have had from this headset is that it sets a little loose on my head so if i turn my head to fast they fall off. the other is that there is not a separate volume adjustment to set for team voice leaving your staining at some points to hear your teammates over explosions in games like cod4 and cod5. other than that these babies are golden and i would highly recommend them to anyone.

4 out of 5 stars Very good headset   November 17, 2008
So far I am very impressed with the Tritton AX360 headset. The only concern I have is that the microphone seems to be the weak component. Only time will tell if this is the first point of failure or not.

5 out of 5 stars Couldn't Ask for a better product at price...   November 16, 2008
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....I researched this little pair of headphones for about 2 weeks, snaring down on every single review I could find online, going 6 or 7 pages deep on google search links, also reading a majority of Amazon's reader reviews. My conclusion before buying was that, for the price range, and to quite honest, the availability of products like this (there are not that many, and most of the other ones are much much more expensive). Tritton is about to release the successor of this pair of headphones called the Tritton AXPro, and it will retail around $[...], so this is still cheaper than that pair will be. Let me break down the featuers a little bit.

1. One of the biggest complaints I saw in all the reviews was the microphone, I don't play online games and have no use for the microphone and thus have not even removed it from the bag it came in. This is a moot point for me.

2. The comfort, I just played an extended session of Deus Ex: Invisible War (my philosophy is to stay last gen all the time, then I pay less for games and accessories...works for now) and I never once felt the urge to remove this headset, until the end (but by then it was warranted...). The material used to line the ear cups and the band that goes over the top of your head is soooooooooooooooooooooo soft! Like some spaceage technology or something.

3. The Sound. So I have never really had a good set of headphones, nor a good set of external 5.1 surround sound speakers...so I was going in with a clean slate of systems to compare this headset too, therefore some of the other complaints of reviewers did not affect me. So What I have found, is that the sound is well done. Some games have better use of 5.1 then others and some movies employ the technology better. Example: Chronicles of Riddick: Escape for Butcher Bay...(which is AMAZING!) Had great sound, thick rich bass and realistic environmental effects that really made you feel surrounded by a living breathing world. I definitely did not know what some reviewers were saying when they said the bass was a little weak. I had to turn down the sub. channel to keep my head from a-sploding. Now In Deus Ex IW, I wish There was stronger sub reaction, I don't see this as a weakness of the headset, but rather a weakness in the games sound design. The speakers themselves create an aural environment in which it is very easy to get absorbed in the richness of the world created in front of you. Things to your left appear that way and things to your right and behind sound like they are in their proper places. So the surround sound is definitely pretty awesome.

4. I am using a Monster Digital Audio Cable, and these digital beeps that people talk about in the background during silend periods are still there. It is not distracting at all, however and you really really have to listen to hear it.

All in all, this is a pretty rad headset, If you want to wait for the AXPro, which has improved upon this set in many ways check it out here: [...]

However, if you are in the market for a set today, and are looking for something that allows for a great solo experience free of the distractions that ambient sound would make, or free from disturbing those who live around you, then this set is a definite...its pretty sweet.

Hope this helps...

4 out of 5 stars Tritton AX360 head phones   November 15, 2008
I have only had these headphones for a few days, first of all everything worked as described, construction wise they are solid or beefy. Tritton has just about all you need to connect your system in the package. You will have to adjust the headphones to your liking, I had read many reviews on these headphones some users talked of lack of bass, in my opinion it has plenty bass.

Yes these are my first set of 5.1 headphones; originally I was in the market for a way to hook up my 5.1 computer speakers to my Xbox 360. In my search on the web, I found the Tritton 5.1 headphones I decided that this would be my best bet. I had no problems with the headphones they worked great. I noticed while looking at the audio controller that comes with the headphones, there is a 5.1 analog output that I can use to connect to my creative sound 5.1 computer audio system. I tried it and it worked great.

Overall I got more than I bargained for. I feel that I got 2 for 1 in purchasing the Tritton AX360 headphones. A great set of headphones and also a way to connect my Xbox360 to my computer speakers.
